In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other regulations that mandate rules for the protection of personal data, we wish to describe the personal data we collect in relation to our conference activities, how we process, use, and protect these data, the purposes for which they are used, and your rights concerning the protection of your privacy and personal data.
CORE PRINCIPLE OF OUR ACTIVITIES: PROTECTION OF PRIVACY AND PERSONAL DATA
The privacy of individuals and the protection of personal data are fundamental human rights. We at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, as the conference organizers, have a duty to care for the privacy of individuals and to protect the personal data of all individuals whose personal data we process and store. Data is a responsibility and must only be collected and processed when necessary.
The Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb adheres to the following principles to protect the personal data of all conference participants:
– We do not collect more personal data than is necessary
– We do not use personal data for purposes about which you have not been timely informed
– We do not retain your personal data if it is no longer necessary
– We never sell, lend, or distribute personal data
– We do not send personal data to third parties without your knowledge and unless it is lawful
– We do not use any automated processing for making decisions or profiling
– We do not transfer personal data outside the EU/EEA except for executing international agreements and organizing international conferences, about which we inform you specifically
– We continuously ensure that personal data are securely stored and protected.

WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?
We collect only the necessary personal data required for processing conference registrations and fee payments:
– Full name
– Email address for direct contact and notification
– Name of the scientific institution and the participant’s position in that institution
– Details of the payment of fees
HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
We use your data exclusively for the purpose of:
– Registration and enrollment in the conference
– Processing and recording fee payments
– Sending confirmations of registration and payments
– Communication with you regarding the conference and timely notifications
– Fulfillment of legal obligations from tax-accounting regulations
WHO MUST WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA WITH?
We share your data with:
– Payment service providers to process your fee payments
– Technical service providers for hosting and website security
– Competent authorities if necessary according to the law
HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
We retain your personal data for 30 days after the end of the conference, except for your personal data closely related to your fee payments, which are kept for 11 years due to obligations from tax-accounting regulations.
YOUR RIGHTS
You are free to contact us at any time to exercise your rights concerning the protection of your personal data. Your rights include the following:
Right of access to personal data
You have the right to access your personal data and to be informed about what data and how we process it, for what purpose, and for how long. We provide you the opportunity to obtain a copy of your personal data.
Right to rectification of personal data
Imate pravo na ispravak ili dopunu netočnih ili nepotpunih osobnih podataka koje ste smo prikupili.
Right to erasure of personal data
You have the right to request us to erase your personal data when the data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, when you submit a justified objection, or when your personal data are processed unlawfully, and if there is no legal obligation to retain them.
Right to object
You have the right to object to certain processing of your personal data. For example, you can request that we stop processing your personal data for direct marketing purposes through newsletters.
Right to restriction of processing
You may request that we restrict the processing of data, for instance, when deletion, rectification, or objection concerning your personal data is pending and/or when we do not have a valid basis for processing your data but you want us to retain them. When processing is restricted, your data will be stored and no further processing will take place. For example, if you dispute the accuracy of your data, processing of such data will be restricted while ensuring the data are accurate.

We will respond to your request as soon as possible, at the latest within one month from the receipt of your request. In the event we are unable to securely confirm your identity, we may request additional verification of your identity.
Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
At any time, you can file a complaint directly with the competent supervisory authority, especially in the EU country where you have your usual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement, if you believe that our processing of your personal data is not lawful.
